Nigerian Street Pop artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been arrested by officers of the Kwara State Police Command following a petition filed by Fuji legend Saheed Osupa.
According to a statement by police spokesperson SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, Osupa accused Portable of multiple offences including criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, and use of offensive language. These allegations stemmed from a now-viral video where Portable verbally attacked the Fuji veteran.
The singer was apprehended in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Sunday, April 13, 2025, and swiftly transferred to Ilorin for further investigation. Authorities have confirmed that Portable remains in custody, with court proceedings expected to follow.
In the wake of his arrest, screenshots from Portable’s Instagram stories which have now been deleted, surfaced, showing the artist pleading with the public to help him apologise to Osupa. He claimed to have already reached out to intermediaries, including music promoter Abu Abel, to help mediate peace.
This incident of Portable getting arrested comes after he accused Saheed Osupa of taking down one of his tracks from streaming platforms due to alleged copyright infringement. In his rant, Portable labelled the Fuji singer "big for nothing," a statement that angered Osupa’s fans and further fuelled the conflict.
The case continues to attract attention on social media, with fans of both artists closely following developments.
