Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has taken another swipe at President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a loving father to his son, Seyi Tinubu, but a failed leader to the Nigerian people.
Speaking during a recent interview on Channels Television, the outspoken Eedris Abdulkareem said he was inspired to write his controversial song Tell Your Papa after watching a video of Seyi Tinubu campaigning and repeatedly praising his father’s leadership.
“I saw a clip where Seyi kept hailing his father as the best president — he repeated it about 5 or 6 times. Honestly, Seyi looks better when he’s silent,” Eedris remarked. “He should consider handing the mic to the MC next time. He clearly lacks the charisma to speak on the actual state of Nigeria’s economy.”
Eedris went on to highlight the contrast between the president’s treatment of his family and the Nigerian public. “Tinubu is the best father to Seyi, no doubt. But he is the worst president to Nigerians. He empowered his son, but he has failed to empower Nigerians with jobs or food,” the rapper stated.
This comes days after the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) banned Tell Your Papa from being aired on radio and TV stations across the country, labeling it unfit for broadcast due to its strong political content. The NBC cited Section 3.1.8 of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code, which restricts the dissemination of material deemed offensive or against public decency.
Despite the ban, Tell Your Papa continues to trend online as listeners debate its bold lyrics and message about the state of the nation.
“Tinubu is the best father to Seyi Tinubu, but he is the worst President to Nigerians.”
