Nigerian street pop sensation, Portable, is forging ahead with his ambition of becoming a full-fledged record label boss as he unveils a new lineup of emerging artists under his Zeh Nation imprint.
Taking to Instagram, Portable introduced fresh set of artists he is mentoring under Zeh Nation, with one artist, Gospel Kanu, choosing to go by the stage name Young Odumodu—a nod to award-winning Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck.
In a video shared online, Young Odumodu showcased his rap skills, delivering lines reminiscent of the hitmaker whose name he adopted. The clip quickly caught the attention of Odumodublvck himself, who reacted via his X account with the simple acknowledgment: "Zeh Nation."
This latest move by Portable comes amid his ongoing reinvention, following past controversies surrounding his mentorship of artists. His previous signee, Young Duu, parted ways with Zeh Nation under dramatic circumstances, later accusing Portable of maltreatment.
Despite past challenges, Portable remains focused on expanding his label while also pushing forward with his own music. His announcement follows the reveal of his upcoming EP, Ogo Most Wanted, which comes at a time when the singer has been entangled in legal issues. Recently, he was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police for allegedly assaulting government officials but later turned himself in and was granted bail.
Now promising to keep a lower profile, Portable’s latest project signals a new chapter for Zeh Nation. Fans will be watching closely to see how his new protégées, particularly Young Odumodu, fare under his guidance, and whether the label can make a lasting impact on the Nigerian music scene.
