Chelsea players respond to Enzo Fernandez and Argentina's racist chant incident

First-team Chelsea players who play for France have reacted to the controversial video of Enzo Fernandez singing a racist chant targeting the French national team.

Following Argentina's Copa America victory, Fernandez shared a video of himself and his teammates chanting a derogatory song against France.

The offensive chant goes: "They play for France, but their parents are from Angola. Their mother is from Cameroon, while their father is from Nigeria. But their passport says French." The video, filmed on a team bus, shows several Argentina players singing the song before Fernandez was told to stop recording during an Instagram live session.

The French Football Federation condemned the chant and has filed a legal complaint. The FFF were however not the only ones to take immediate action, First team players at Chelsea who also play for France have reacted to the video of Enzo Fernandez and the Argentine national team as well.

Chelsea, home to several French players, saw Wesley Fofana publicly call out Fernandez on social media. Fofana posted a clip of Fernandez singing the chant with the caption: "Football in 2024: uninhibited racism," accompanied by three facepalming emojis.

Fofana was not the only player to react as other players, Axel Disasi and Malo Gusto, who are also French, have unfollowed Fernandez on Instagram.
