Nigerian music sensation, Burna Boy faced disappointment at the 55th NAACP Image Awards 2024, as he failed to secure victory in any of his five nominated categories.
The awards ceremony, held virtually on Monday, March 11, 2024, marked the first night of the prestigious event.
Burna Boy emerged as the African Artist with the highest number of nominations, with recognition in five distinct categories. His nominations included Outstanding Male Artist, Outstanding International Song for City Boys, Outstanding Hip-Hop/Rap Song for Sittin’ On Top of The World, Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration for Sittin’ On Top of The World featuring 21 Savage, and Outstanding Album for I Told Them.
However, despite his notable presence in multiple categories, Burna Boy was unable to secure a win in any of them, losing out to other artists.

While Burna Boy's defeat may come as a disappointment to his fans and supporters, the event also highlighted significant moments of triumph, pincluding Tems and Davido’s win.
Tems and Davido’s victories showcases the growing international influence of Afrobeats and the artistic prowess of Nigerian musicians.
