Wizkid Got On Billboard Hot 100 Three (3) Times Before Turning 31… Happy Birthday Big Wiz!

Here is Big Wiz celebrating 31 years of Greatness and Music Wonder. “In the early 90s, that was the beginning..”, (Born on the 16th of July, 1990) Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun popularly known as WizKid came to spotlight in 2010 and since then he has been a source of Joy to his parents and millions of fans worldwide (the Starboy FC most especially).

In 2016, Wizkid achieved international recognition following his collaboration with Canadian rapper, Drake on the global hit, ‘One Dance’, which reached No. 1 in 15 countries, including the U.S, UK, Canada, and Australia. The song also made him break a record by becoming the First Afrobeats artiste to appear in the 2018 Guinness World Records.

The singer is currently one of the richest artistes in the continent with a net worth of over 20 Million Dollars (According to Forbes). He has the biggest record label deal yet by an African music act with his 2016 deal with RCA Records as reported by Billboard.

The singer is also one of the three African artiste that made Billboard Hot 100 chart with their own single. He made Nigerians proud when his recent single, summer buzzing jam – ‘Essence’ and debut at No. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 some days ago.

“Essence” off his 2020 ‘Made In Lagos’ album gave the 31-years-old star his third (3rd) Hot 100 appearance. Wizkid’s Billboard Hot 100 breakthrough came as a guest artist on Drake’s “One Dance” (also featuring singer Kyla), which reigned at No. 1 for 10 weeks in 2016. He returned alongside Beyonce and Saint JHN on “Brown Skin Girl” (featuring Blue Ivy Carter), which peaked at No. 76 in August 2019.

His own single “Essence” (featuring singer Tems), which debut at No. 82 made History in July 2021, as the first ever Nigerian song on Billboard Hot 100 Charts. It gave featured vocalist Tems her first Hot 100 hit, which the 26-years-old sees as ‘a huge honour’.
